Hello and welcome to my ice cream nail art post!
Are you all as excited about these nails as I am? Just must be because who doesn’t love ice cream? So a little back story about these nails. I saw these nails on the Instagram page of Galina aka yagala like over a year ago. As soon as I saw them I made the decision to recreate them but for some reason never did. Until now!
I was sitting outside one night eating ice cream when I all of the sudden remembered this mani I saw. After I was done eating my ice cream (yeah I have my priorities in order, I know) I went inside to start with this design. To be honest, I am really happy and proud of how they turned out! Really didn’t think they were gonna look this good.
If you want to know how I did this ice cream nail art and would maybe like to recreate it, please keep reading:
First off what you need to do is apply a base coat. Now you can literally choose anyone you’d like. I have decided to use this Sally Hansen ‘big peel off base coat’ just because I sadly had to take them off the next day 🙁
Pick the brown polish that you think works best for this design. I only have this brown polish so my decision was rather easy. This is NYC’s ‘Brownstone’ and I really like this colour! Probably gonna wear it a bit more once fall season is here 🙂 You are going to need about three coats of this colour to get the desired effect. Also, you DON’T want to wait until the last coat is completely dry before applying the next one.
Again, before the last coat you just applied is completely dry, go over it with your favourite top coat.
Next up you are going to need one of these flossers that you can buy pretty much at any drug store. Just press the string part onto the nail in a ‘X’ pattern. Or I guess you could call it an ice cream cone pattern too if you’d like!
It should look somewhat like this:
Dotting Tool time! Use any white polish you can find or have. I used ‘White On’ by Sally Hansen to create these three round dots on top of every ‘cone’. Try to get the shape as round as possible. I kinda failed on this one but I still think it looks like ice cream.
Pick as many colours as you’d like to create the ice cream scoops. I picked colours that actually are ice cream colours but you can let your imagination run wild on this one!
Peach: ‘Sun of a Peach’ by China Glaze
Yellow: ‘Birdy Reloaded’ by Catrice
Purple: ‘Play Date’ by essie
Pink: ‘Get Juiced’ by Sally Hansen
Mint: ‘Highlight of my Summer’ by China Glaze
What’s really important with this design it to NOT put on any top coat on after you’re done! This would ruin the ‘X’ pattern you worked so hard for.
