Hey all,
How are you doing on this fine day? I am beyond excited to show you my winter wonderland nails that I did for this post. I am 100% in love with them and would totally recommend for you to recreate! Trust me, they look way more intimidating than they actually are. I saw similar nails done by badgirlnails and just had to recreate them. If you want to know how I did my version, just keep on reading.
As always, start by painting your nails with a regular or peel off base coat. I used the ‘Ready for Takeoff’ by UNT one. Then, go over it with a orange shade, like ‘Malibu Peach’ by Sally Hansen. Make sure that this coat is nice and opaque, so apply as many coats as necessary.
Before sponging on the gradient, protect your skin around your nails by applying a peel off something around your nails. There are like a ton of different methods for this out there and it’s really up to you. I am using the ‘Ready for Takeoff’ base coat from UNT. Next up, take a make up sponge and a purple polish like ‘Indiglow’ by Sally Hansen. Make the sponge moist and apply a small amount of purple polish onto it. Start with very light pressure at the base of your nails. Make sure you go little by little, you can always go in with more polish to take the gradient stronger. Removing to much polish on the other hand is very tricky.
Once you’re happy with the gradient, go ahead and remove the skin protection. Then, take a small brush and a black polish like ‘Black to Black’ by Sally Hansen to create the trees. I found it the easiest to make a line where you want the middle of the tree to be. Now all you have to do is create small strokes on both sides of the line. Making sure that the ones at the bottom are larger than the ones at the top. You can make them as big or small as you’d like. You can obviously also put as many trees onto your nails as possible. I decided to leave some gap between the trees because I wanted to make sure that the gorgeous sunset that I created will be visible.
As soon as that is completely dry, go in with the same thin brush as before and a white polish to create the snow. This polish is ‘White On’ by Sally Hansen but any white polish will do. Same as before, create little lines all over the trees.
You can apply as much or as little snow as you’d like. I personally like snow so I went all out. Also, I think it’s best if you start with just a bit of white polish. Like with the gradient before, you can always go back and add more colour. But once that polish is on the nails, it’s going to be much harder to get rid of.
When you are happy with the way your winter wonderland nails look, go ahead and apply a top coat. The one I am using is called ‘Color Therapy’ and it’s from Sally Hansen. This will make the gradient nice and smooth. It will also protect your design so it can stay on your nails for as long as possible.
Thank you so much for reading my winter wonderland nails post and don’t forget to subscribe so you never miss a post of mine! I hope you have a wonderful week filled with lots of sunshine and happiness.
